Andrea Olivi is Chairman of the Board of Volare Shipping. He is also Global Head of Shipping at Trafigura, a position he assumed in October 2024 following four years as Global Head of Wet Freight.

 

Based in Geneva, Switzerland, Andrea oversees the Group’s global shipping and freight activities across both wet and dry bulk markets, managing a fleet of approximately 400 vessels and more than 5,000 shipping and chartering voyages annually.

 

His responsibilities include ensuring the business is prepared for evolving maritime regulations, such as the EU Emissions Trading System, and supporting the Group’s efforts to advance the decarbonisation of the shipping industry.

 

Andrea joined Trafigura in 2015 as an oil charterer in Geneva, responsible for formulating and implementing global Suezmax, Aframax and dirty Handysize freight trading strategies.

 

He began his career with shipowner Teekay, where he progressed to Chartering and Business Development Manager and played a key role in establishing the LR2 pool Taurus Tankers, subsequently managing its global chartering and freight trading activities. In 2014, he joined Socar Trading in Geneva, where he led chartering activities for wet cargoes and managed a team of charterers.

 

Andrea holds an Executive MBA from Bayes Business School (formerly Cass Business School, University of London).
